Description We are looking for an ambitious, high-achieving VAT Advisory Manager seeking a new challenge in a progressive and forward-thinking VAT Department. Key Responsibilities Advising on:
o The VAT treatment of transactions, such as property, M&A transactions and cross border supplies; o Changes in VAT legislation, Revenue policy and evolving Irish and EU case law; o The VAT treatment of services outsourced to Irish/non-Irish service providers and applying VAT exemptions;
The completion of VAT reviews, including identifying key risks, threats and opportunities and optimising related VAT cash flows;
Providing support to clients in relation to Revenue audits (e.g. assistance with Revenue desk audit queries, to the preparation of voluntary disclosures, to negotiating settlements with Revenue);
Developing and reviewing VAT recovery rate methodologies and calculations for clients without full VAT recovery;
The management and co-ordination of pan-European and global VAT advisory projects;
Provision of bespoke VAT training for the management of VAT;
Working directly with members of the senior VAT and firm management group and Partners; and,
Development and mentoring of VAT trainees and management.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
A relevant tax, legal or accountancy qualification – ITI/CTA qualified
Strong academic record
Excellent technical knowledge of Irish and European VAT legislation and case law
Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience in a professional tax/VAT environment
Strong commercial awareness
Experienced in providing strong client service delivery across a portfolio of businesses/clients
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong ability to build good working relationships with clients and colleagues.
