Job Description

The HV Substations Delivery department in Networks Engineering, ESB Engineering & Major Projects is the centre of engineering design and project delivery for ESB's Transmission & Distribution deliverables. The Commissioning & SCS Teams in HV Substations Delivery verifies that the HV Substation equipment is fit for connection to the relevant HV system through the issue of a declaration of fitness certificate to the System Controller. Key Responsibilities Working on a national basis, at timeslargely dictatedby operational constraints, key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Assessment of site safety prior to engaging in commissioning activities and to coordinate the work schedule with site staff asappropriate. Commissioning primary, secondary and associated equipment forming part of Transmission / Distribution Networks. Commissioning testing of instrument transformers, powertransformersand HV switchgear. Commissioning testing of protection relays. Functional verification of protection scheme designs and checking compliancetoapproved design standards. Coordinate, plan, and deliver commissioning projects. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential Knowledge and experience of Electrical Safety Rules and procedures. Knowledge and experience of operational procedures and the operation of substations. Familiarity with typical protection philosophies as applied to Transmission and Distribution Networks. Conceptual understanding of the design and operating mechanism of Power Plant; Thorough knowledge of schematics, cubiclewiringand functional testing techniques. Self-motivated and be capable of working on their own initiative without direct supervision. Work well with other team members and activelyparticipatein achieving the team's targets. Ability to work and share knowledge and competencies within a team structure. Excellent interpersonal skills. Organise,planandmonitorall aspects of the work. Demonstrate the ability to make quality decisions and judgments. Showa high levelof commitment and flexibility. Maintain a strong safety focus and actively drive the EMP safety culture within the team and other related areas of ESB. As travelling to sites is feature of this role, it is essential to have appropriateDriversLicense. Qualifications Essential Either a 3rd Level qualification or equivalent work experience is essential. A minimum of 3yearsrelevant experience in the High Voltage Transmission and Distribution industry. Location The succesful candidate will be based in either The Sidings, Dublin or East Gate Cork, but travel to and working at various project locations as required, is a key requirement of the role ESB is committed to smart working - combining digital tools with a culture of trust and empowerment to enable flexible ways of working. The successful candidate may work flexibly within theirjurisdictionwith attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least two anchor days per week.
