Solutions Architect

We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to provide architectural support across a portfolio of digital platforms, customer-facing channels, enterprise systems and technology change initiatives. The successful candidate will lead discovery and architecture-definition activities, helping to modernise and migrate legacy capabilities into secure, scalable and maintainable web, mobile and cloud-based solutions. This role requires an architect who can operate credibly with senior business stakeholders whilst working closely with delivery, engineering, infrastructure, security, data and third-party supplier teams. Key Responsibilities Lead discovery activities to validate assumptions and estimates, identify technical unknowns and delivery risks, and define the architectural work required before programme mobilisation. Document and maintain current-state and target-state architecture across digital portals, websites, mobile applications, internal systems, APIs, data flows, authentication services, integrations, and third-party platforms. Define target architectures and technical roadmaps for the consolidation, migration and modernisation of legacy applications and portal capabilities. Shape migration approaches, feature decomposition, sequencing, proof-of-concept activity, dependency mapping and delivery constraints. Provide solution architecture support across digital customer journeys, business applications, data integration, data governance, and enterprise technology initiatives. Define and drive non-functional requirements, covering security, resilience, scalability, supportability, observability, accessibility, and compliance (DPIA support). Identify and communicate dependencies across core platforms, enterprise systems, business areas, delivery teams and third-party suppliers. Ensure solutions and third-party services are integrated, governed and aligned with enterprise architecture principles, operational requirements and security standards. Evaluate delivery accelerators, including AI-assisted code analysis or migration and design-system reuse, whilst protecting quality, maintainability and standards compliance. Desired Knowledge / Experience / Skills Proven experience as a Solution Architect in a complex enterprise, digital or financial-services environment. Strong experience designing Microsoft Azure cloud architectures, including compute, storage, networking, identity, and security. Experience developing cloud-migration strategies for on-premises applications and hybrid-cloud environments. Experience with modern web, mobile, API-led and integration-heavy architectures. Strong knowledge of application modernisation, legacy-platform migration, and technical roadmap development. Demonstrable ability to translate business requirements into practical and deliverable technical solutions. Experience communicating architecture clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proven ability to work collaboratively across business, development, infrastructure, security, data and supplier teams. Experience of.NET and Java application environments. Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering or migration tooling and reusable design systems.
